Women’s nutrition and fitness in the United States
A practical starting point for women in the United States who want to turn national guidance into meals and movement that fit everyday life.

- US cups, ounces and pounds, with grams in the calculator

Build from MyPlate, then make it personal
USDA MyPlate is a useful visual foundation: make fruits and vegetables prominent, vary protein foods, choose whole grains often and include dairy or a fortified alternative. Procaaf adds portion-level estimates, so you can see how a familiar meal contributes protein, carbohydrates, fat and calories.
For menopause or PCOS, the same foundation still applies. A visible protein source, fiber-rich carbohydrate, vegetables or fruit and mostly unsaturated fats is more useful than a restrictive list of forbidden foods.
Use US measures without losing accuracy
Recipes may use cups and ounces while food labels list grams. Procaaf works in grams so comparable portions stay consistent. As a rough kitchen bridge, 1 ounce is about 28 grams, but weighed portions are more reliable for foods with very different densities.
Nutrition labels and online calculators are estimates. Look for repeatable patterns rather than treating a single calorie or macro number as exact.
Questions to take to your care team
Ask a primary care clinician or RDN about persistent cycle changes, severe menopause symptoms, suspected PCOS, bone-health risks, pregnancy, diabetes, kidney disease or a history of disordered eating. Educational tools can organize questions, but they cannot diagnose or prescribe treatment.
